Ombudsman: nearly 30 children lost in LPR over the conflict

Lugansk, November 17. Nearly 30 children were lost, about 50 got wounded in the Lugansk People’s Republic since the beginning of the conflict in Donbass – the Children’s Commissioner of the LPR of Yulia Nazarenko.

«26 young Lugansk citizens have died. Also one our girl succumbed to injuries, the residents of the Sanzharovka village of the Artemovsky area (under the DPR’s control) … 27 children are on our list,» claimed Nazarenko.

«Forty seven children got wounded in military hostilities in the Lugansk region,» added Nazarenko, having explained that this number also included those blown by land mines.

The Ukrainian authorities began a military operation against the LPR and DPR in April 2014. According to the latest UN data, more than 8 thousand people have suffered from the conflict. The settlement of the situation in Donbass was also discussed during meetings of the contact team in Minsk which since last September has approved three documents regulating steps for de-escalation of the conflict.

On September, 1 another truce came into effect in Donbass. Both parties and observers state that it is followed. At the end of September there was signed an agreement on withdrawal of military equipment under 100 mm calibre and tanks from the contact line.
